Responsibilities

Backend SW Engineer

​

Overview  

         

As a backend software engineer working on August’s backend applications and infrastructure, you will ensure that August’s REST API services are always fast, available, scalable and engineered to scale.  You will join a team of seasoned engineers to develop, maintain, debug, optimize the heart of August’s system and other miscellaneous services. You will work in collaboration with the iOS, Android, web development and embedded development teams to optimize our users experience with the August Smart Lock.  

 

As a successful candidate you will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. You must be passionate about delivering best of breed system. You must be obsessive about security, quality and performance.

Responsibilities

​

Development, maintenance, and debugging of back-end services

Manage availability, security, scalability by engineering reliability into our services

Monitoring operational services and responding to problems when necessary

Preemptively work on improving the performance of our REST API

Participate in service capacity planning

Review and influence ongoing backend designs and architecture

 

Requirements

​

BS in computer sciences or related technical field

8+ years professional software development experience.

4+  years experience managing, developing and scaling large scale back-end systems

3+ years experience developing in Javascript for nodejs, you use jslint and node-inspector

1+ years experience developing with mongodb

4+ years developing system backed by databases (NoSQL or SQL)

Extensive understanding of REST APIs and experience using them

Director, Product Marketing

​

Seeking a Director, Product Marketing to grow awareness and adoption of our consumer products.

​

This is a critical role and requires an experienced leader who can hire and develop talent, manage external agencies and develop a cross-functional marketing strategy with other leaders across the organization.

The right candidate will have a deep understanding of customer research and segmentation, product positioning, developing consumer campaigns, and integrated marketing.

Responsibilities

​

  • Develop strategy and lead implementation of integrated marketing campaigns across Paid media, partner marketing, PR, social media, and email.

  • Develop & test the segmentation, value proposition, user benefits, product positioning, and pricing for product introductions and product releases.

IT Manager-East Bay

​

Overview

​

We are looking for a Manager to lead the IT function, reporting directly to the CFO. The leader will be responsible for leading a 5-7 person IT staff to manage all Corporate IT operations. We are generally a cloud based operation running our functional operations with Salesforce, Office365, NetSuite, OpenAir, Concur, etc. The IT function is responsible for all IT vendor mgmt. related to voice, network, other service providers. Providing local IT helpdesk support for multiple sites across US, Middle East and Australia.  


The ideal candidate will be someone who has been the IT manager for a ~500 to 1000 person company with multiple sites. You will be a proven IT Manager with prior hands-on technical infrastructure and project management expertise and someone who is used to operating within a small IT Team with a "roll up your sleeves" approach to resolving problems. 

​

Task Skills

A solid skill base is needed to hit the ground running, and commercial acumen focusing on long-term outcomes and the financial implications of the actions expected.

Skills such as the following are preferred:

​

  • Up to date knowledge of IT hardware, Networking and IT systems

  • Have knowledge on SaaS and cloud management (private and public)

  • VLAN and firewall management, and general high level of knowledge on network security and protection.

  • Familiar with Domain environment and Active Directory and file system management

  • High level of knowledge on MSFT base products, including but not limited to SharePoint, Exchange email server etc. Experience on O365 and Azure management is desired.

Knowledge & Experience 

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Project Management (with certification in PMP or Prince 2, a plus)
